Say ahhhh patients. Today we have a dose of magic medicine in the form of legendary lonestar groovers, the Sir Douglas Quintet. Indeed, a band the doctors and nursemaids have kept under lock 'n stethoscope for too long now. Doug Sahm is a name you should jot down patients. Sahm did, indeed, groove. In '65, Sir Douglas Quintet scored an international smash with their classic Beatles meets Texas groove, "She's About A Mover". Later Sahm moved to San Francisco and recorded a handful of LPs for Mercury records subsidiary Smash. In 1969, SDQ released their third LP and the doctors' and nursemaids' favorite album in the SDQ catalog, Mendocino. Which, yes, patients includes an organ polished remake of "She's About A Mover". Mendocino is an album you should check out stat.
We wanted to leave you with Medocino's lead single. A pair of tunes where the Mexicali tinged minstrel shines. Check out "Medocino" b/w "I Wanna Be Your Mama Again" and let us know yer thoughts.
Catch their waves on Playboy After Dark.
Should You DL? Of course, as your Doctor, I advise you to download your daily dosage of MP3s...
