If yer a frequent visitor to the asylum then you know that the doctors and nursemaids here enjoy prescribin' a healthy dose of vintage digital 45 rpm singles. That's why today we are lendin' yer ears the soul chug from the debut single by the Ike & Tina Turner Revue.

A fool in love is still a fool

Released in 1960, the Sue Records single “A Fool In Love” b/w "The Way You Love Me" was the start of the funked-up Ike & Tina hit parade. The single rode the R&B charts all the way to #2 and hit #27 on the Pop charts. Leading up to this session, Anna Mae Bullock, then known as Little Ann was a member of the Ikettes. Ike had originally written "A Fool In Love" with a male vocalist in mind, but, a heavily pregnant Tina took over lead vocal duty when the singer scheduled to perform didn't show. The result, a dose of unrelentin' gravel jagged soul that sizzles with ferocious energy as it rakes through yer ears. The song marked the beginning of a succession of hits by the Ike & Tina Turner Revue. Give 'er a listen and let us know yer thoughts patients.

Should You DL? Of course, as your Doctor, I advise you to download your daily dosage of MP3s...
